Dear Surfer,

I stayed in central Firenze for nine days in September 2001 and saw an almost unbelievable number of beautiful paintings, frescoes, sculptures, buildings and views. I overdosed on culture and my enthusiasm for the city resulted in me taking over 500 photographs.

To the immense relief of friends, these have been whittled down to a more manageable number and some of them are now displayed here.

I barely had time to scratch the surface of what there is to see in Firenze and, having rubbed the nose of Il Porcellino, now look forward to returning. I certainly recall that there are at least two churches and three galleries I didn't get around to visiting on this trip.
